Compare and Contrast

Morrison and Wallace both wrote speeches that really made the audience get to thinking. They start with a story to help bring their point across in their speeches. Morrison's noble lecture carried the story throughout the speech and Wallace in "This is Water" started with a brief story then mentioned it again at the end to tie it all in. The noble lecture speech had more advanced words in it and deeper meaning to what she was saying, because of this it would have been difficult for the audience of "This is Water" to comprehend. Morrison is grateful to receive the award but also take the time to let people know how important English is and how it should never be lost. Wallace however, was simply trying to give advice to a class of graduating senior which is why he made his speech easier to understand and relate to. He made sure that every student would leave with some good words about life and growing up, it was the dead truth about life. The intention of both speeches is educating the audience about an important subject but their point was brought across differently because of he specific audience they were speaking to.
